Panasonic’s Creative Museum “AkeruE”

AkeruE, a creative museum by Panasonic, is located in Tokyo’s International Exhibition Center and offers innovative experiences aimed at shaping the future. True to its name—“a museum where ideas come to life”—AkeruE is a fusion of a science museum, an art museum, and a hands-on experimental lab, where discovery and creation come together.


One of its highlights is a large-scale aquaponics system, showcasing next-generation agriculture that grows plants using water and fish. There’s also a well-equipped maker space featuring tools like 3D printers, laser cutters, and vacuum formers, designed to bring creative ideas to life. (Use of this area requires approval through the "Alchemist Program.")


In the science area, visitors can enjoy unique exhibits such as giant art pieces that react to sound, light-and-shadow installations, and interactive displays that explain scientific principles in engaging ways.


Next to it, there’s a creative workshop space where children can build projects using materials and themes of their choice. Their imaginative works are displayed in the space (can be taken home after exhibition or recycled afterwards).

The museum also includes areas where visitors can explore digital tools and even experience video production (advance reservation required).


Other facilities include:

  • A café serving organic food

  • A library filled with books related to the SDGs

  • A Panasonic exhibition zone showcasing the company’s sustainability initiatives (exhibits include materials like eco boards)


Panasonic is committed to material recycling, managing everything from product manufacturing to post-use recovery. It also runs the “Light Up The Future” project, which donates solar lanterns to children in off-grid areas using funds raised through donated books, CDs, DVDs, and precious metals.


With regular events and workshops, AkeruE is a place filled with inspiration and experimentation, where visitors can experience the limitless potential of the future.
